Fine Opal Gemstones
from Allan's Rise Fields
Recent Work from Mike Kelley
... This opal pear comes from the Allan's Rise fields near Coober Pedy. It produces Dark Opal similar to Lightning Ridge grey base opal. There are several patterns which show up there regularly, including rolling flash. This stone has three "legs" of fire which roll across the bottom half of this opal. Each leg is a little rainbow in itself, rolling through blue, green and orange as they move across the stone from side to side. Mixed colors of splotch, flake and flash fill the rest of the stone with dancing colors. |
